Relay Bike Share 2018 Year In Review

Thank you Relay riders and supporters for a fantastic first year fully launched with 500 bikes!  Together, Relay’s 46,000 members traveled over 225,500 miles…that’s enough to get us around the Earth about 3.5 times! All those miles equated to 198,891 lbs in carbon reduction.  Relay riders have played a huge role in reducing the number of cars on the road and the amount of emissions in the air. You’re all helping make Atlanta a more bikeable city.

Our top stations for 2018 were:

PIEDMONT PARK & EASTSIDE BELTLINE: 15966 rides

IRWIN & EASTSIDE BELTLINE: 12496 rides

HISTORIC FOURTH WARD PARK:  9274 rides

GREENWOOD AVE BELTLINE:  8554 rides

PIEDMONT PARK WEST:  7620 rides

PIEDMONT PARK EAST:  5877 rides

KING OF POPS:  5426 rides

OUTWRIGHT STATION:  4713 rides

TECH SQUARE:  3496 rides

GEORGIA TECH – CLOUGH BUILDING:  3496 rides

MARTA – MIDTOWN  (NORTH): 2836 rides

Our top stations indicate that riders prefer to bike in well-protected areas like the BeltLine, Piedmont Park, and Georgia Tech…we’re hoping our data will be used to advocate for expanded infrastructure in a way that supports cycling for all comfort levels.

In addition to our awesome riders, we would also like to thank some of our key partners.  Georgia’s Own has been a major player in making Relay a reality, we thank you for your continued support!

Shout out to the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition for involving Relay in programming throughout the year.  From City Cycling to Atlanta Streets Alive, we love being a part of the ABC fun.

Finally, thank you to our hometown all-stars Atlanta United.  This year, Relay released 17 unicorn bikes into the wild for the Ride the Stripes campaign which aimed to raise matching funds for local charities.  We have had such a blast watching the red, black, and bold bikes roll around town.

There are so many others involved in making Relay a success, we so appreciate all of our community partners.

2018 was one for the books, but we are looking forward to another exciting year on two wheels.  We are hard at work cooking up some pretty big plans, so keep your eyes out for some exciting news coming this spring!

See you all out there on two wheels!
